Statement:
My research interest mainly focus on the speciation of birds. We use the whole genomic data to detect the gene flow in speciation at scales of time and space. Combining with transcriptome, morphological data and behavior study, we further identify the genes under natural selections or sexual selections which maintain the divergence of sister species. The Galliformes species (Golden pheasant & Lady Amherst’ pheasant, Cabot’s tragopan & Temminck’s tragopan) and Ficedula Flycatchers (Green-backed flycatcher & Yellow-rumped flycatcher) are the main systems we work with. I am also interested in the evolutionary ecology of host-parasite interaction. We use the Avian malaria and related haemosporidian parasites as the model to study how the parasites affect the diversity of bird’s MHC genes, which are crucial to bird’s survival and resistance to the epidemics.
