About BSEE
The Key Laboratory of Biodiversity Science and Ecological Engineering Laboratory was founded in 2000 by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and co-established by Fudan University(FDU) and Beijing Normal University (BNU). Both co-founding institutes have talented faculties and strong academic foundations set by the past generations of scientists. The lab has passed three Ministry of Education Assessments since its establishment. It is one of the most highly ranked laboratories among the MOE Key Laboratories in ecology in China and will remain an important institute in research, innovation and teaching in the field of Biodiversity.
Since its establishment, the Laboratory has been the recipient of assorted grants and funds from the National Sciences Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education. For more than a decade the laboratory has been running very successful graduate programs that attract the best students from around the country. The division of Beijing Normal University consists of over 30 faculty members with diverse research interests in the following areas:
● Biodiversity and environmental changes
● Biological Invasion and the consequences
● Conservation of endangered species
● Ecological Engineering
HISTORY
- 1923, Zoology Division of BNU
- 1984, Launching of Ph.D. Program
- 1987, Nominated as the National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education
- 1998, The Institute of Ecology was established as the open laboratory of BNU
- 2000, Co-founded the Key Laboratory of Biodiversity Science and Ecological Engineering Laboratory (Fudan University and Beijing Normal University), Ministry of Education
- 2001, Nominated as National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education Again
- 2005, The Laboratory passed the first Ministry of Education Assessment
- 2010, The Laboratory passed the second Ministry of Education Assessment and was nominated to compete for Excellence Award
- 2012, Ecology of FDU & BNU was ranked in first class in the Third National Discipline Assessment
- 2016, The Laboratory passed the third Ministry of Education Assessment and was given Excellence Award
- 2017, Ecology of FDU and BNU Ranked in the A class in the Forth National Discipline Assessment
- 2017, Ecology OF FDU & BNU was selected by “Double First-Class initiative”
