Statement:

Prof. Zhang is a field wildlife biologist and the professor on mammal conservation. He serves as the member of the board of directors and vice secretary general of China Zoological Society, the vice chair of Animal Ecology Committee of China Ecological Society, the member of IUCN Species Survival Committee -Asian Elephant Specialist Group, the member of technical advisory group of Monitoring of Illegal Killing of Elephant (MIKE) of the United Nation’s Washington Conversion (CITES), as well as the national coordinator on combating illegal wildlife trafficking and training expert of Asian Development Bank (ADB). He is also the handling editor of Conservation Biology, one of the top journals in the conservation world. He dedicates to wildlife conservation biological research, conservation education and teaches courses such as Conservation Biology, Animal Behaviour and Biological Statistics for graduates and undergraduates since 1999. He has published over 70 research papers on China’s environmental policies, endangered species conservation, wildlife management and trafficking in peer-reviewed journals including Nature, Science, Conservation Letters, Biological Conservation, Ecosystem Services and Animal Behaviour etc.
