主要工作经历：1987年8月至1999年11月工作于东北林业大学，从事森林生态学研究，先后担任助教、讲师、副教授、教授，1993年任红松研究所所长。1999年12月调入北京师范大学，任科技处处长；2002-2006年任生命科学学院院长。现任北京师范大学副校长、北京市政协副主席。
主要研究内容：东北虎和东北豹生态学和保护生物学研究；东北地区主要树种的亲缘地理学研究。
